A little over a year ago I attended a blogging conference, BloggyMoms. In the past I have attended food allergy Expos and Conferences, but never a blogging-specific event. It was a weekend-long retreat, held at Cedar Point. It was fun getting to meet other bloggers and listen to their passions. On the second day we had break-out groups and I was asked to lead the “special needs” group. That is where I met Marla Murasko. Marla blogs at Special and Determined about her precious boy who has down syndrome. Although our stories are drastically different, we bonded over daily challenges and the struggles of living life different from other families.
Not long after the trip, Marla contacted me and shared with me her vision for a magazine that was centered around families with special needs. I fell in love with her dream and was honored when she asked me to be a contributing author. The latest issue of The SpecialMoms Parenting Magazine is filled to the brim with encouraging stories from other families. With spring break just around the corner, Marla asked if I would write about vacationing with food allergies. So of course I did! Below you can see a snippet of the article I wrote, “How To Plan A Vacation When Your Child Has Food Allergies.”
To read the entire article, check out this issue of The SpecialMoms Parenting Magazine. PLUS, fellow food allergy mom Debbie Adler, featuring her cookbook (one of our all-time favorites), “Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats,” is also in this issue!! The SpecialMoms Parenting Magazine is a free online magazine that is released four times a year. Check out the fun promo video featuring the magazine.
