It’s been awhile since I last updated you on our China adoption. It’s been a busy 45 days! On October 21, we received our official I-800A Approval from the US Department of Homeland Security. We quickly had a copy notarized and drove it downtown Indianapolis for it to be certified by the Indiana Secretary of State. From there we sent it via courier to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago for authentication. It was the last document that we needed to complete our dossier.
On Friday, November 4th, we sent off all of the dossier documents that we’ve been collecting since July and guarding with our lives to our agency in Colorado for review and translation. This process typically takes 2 weeks. Our dossier review/translation was completed in just 5 days! Our dossier was sent to Beijing (Dossier to China – DTC) on November 11th!
This was a HUGE milestone for us! From here, it will be picked up by the China Center for Children’s Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA) – typically 3-5 days. It will be reviewed and logged in to their system (Log In Date – LID) – typically within 3 weeks. Well, ours was received and logged in within a record amount of time. Just 1 business day!!! HOLY SCHNIKES!!!
We were hoping that it would be LID by early December. But, we actually received our LID on November 14th! Praise God for such a speedy process!
So what does that mean?
Now we just wait. We wait for a referral of a little girl who matches our profile. Our profile is made up of the gender (female), age (0-2 years), and medical conditions that we’re open to (this is a long list). It could come any day or it could be months before we receive the call. Needless to say, anytime my phone rings and it’s a call from Colorado (where our agency is located), I begin sweating and can barely speak! HA!
Stay tuned…the next update could be BIG news!!
