Hi again! I’m back, as promised, and want to thank you all for the countless supportive emails and messages I’ve received over the past weeks. As all of you probably know, both my sons have a food allergy, and a couple weeks ago, we found ourselves in a predicament again.
Coping with food allergies can sometimes be a challenge. It was one of those times when I already said to myself, “I’ve got this and keep it under control!” - when trouble suddenly happened. My oldest son, Christian, began to gasp for air, and his face was unrecognizable. It’s not a situation that you can take easy being a parent, even if it has already happened several times in the past. We are lucky to live not far from a hospital now, so we got to the ER just within five minutes and spent a few hours there before leaving with a prescription for oral steroids, a nasty bout of hives covering my son’s entire body, and an impressive medical bill.
Of course, we have a medical insurance policy; however, it doesn’t cover all costs. Although it is not a big deal compared to my son's life and well-being, we are currently facing some financial difficulties due to the purchasing and moving of a new home. As we had invested all of our savings into a new home improvement, we had to apply for additional financial assistance to pay our out-of-pocket expenses and prevent debt accumulation. As you can understand, these weeks were really crazy and exhausting.
However, now the whole nightmare is over. We repay the loan on time and without issues. Both my sons are fine and enjoying their egg-free cookies, and I want to thank you all again for the support you gave me every day and for the stories you shared that helped us recover faster. We keep enjoying the abundant life we’ve been given, despite all the trials on our way.
