The SpecialMoms Parenting Magazine was first launched in early February. Its creator and editor, Marla Murasko, saw a need and filled in the gap with this incredible magazine. As a mom of children with special needs — life-threatening food allergies — I know all-to-well how difficult it can be to find other moms to relate to. I often pick up a fun ‘mom’ magazines like, “Parents” or “Disney Family Fun” and as I read the articles I think to myself, “If only that could be my life or if my little men didn’t have food allergies we could do that.”
I’m so grateful that Marla has created a magazine for moms like us and I feel honored to have been included yet again as a contributing author. In this issue, I provided an article titled, “Sending Your Kid With Food Allergies To Summer Camp.” In the article I give 6 tips for having a safe summer camp experience. Will you be sending your food allergic child to camp this summer? My oldest is stepping out and heading to a 2 week day camp in July. I’m feeling pretty good about it now, but I’m sure I’ll be super nervous when it’s actually time to send him off.
The magazine features some other incredible women. Some of my favorite articles that you won’t want to miss out on are:
- “Hot Dogs Are Not A Neutral Food” – By Cindy Cohen, R.N.
- “How To Overcome Isolation When Working From Home” – By Marla Murasko
- “The Power of Yet” – By Lara Molettiere
- “From Down Syndrome To Cerebral Palsey: An Adoption Story” – By Ellen Stumbo
There are so many more…
