There is nothing in this world that can bring out my inner child like Christmas. Okay, well maybe Disney World but that requires traveling, and I can’t fit the Magic Kingdom in my house. But I can fit a tree and lots of garland! If you can’t tell by now, I love everything about Christmas. The smell of cinnamon and freshly baked Christmas cookies, the holiday music playing everywhere that beckons me to sing-along, the sight of Christmas lights twinkling on every street corner, the red holiday Starbucks cups, the freshly decorated tree with ornaments old and new, close family and friends gathered around the dinner table sharing stories of Christmas past, just to name a few. I could probably write an entire post about everything I love about Christmas, “An Ode to Christmas.” However, I thought that may be a bit much. I’m not sure what the opposite of Scrooge is, but that might just be me!
Instead, I thought I’d share with you some of our family’s favorite Christmas traditions and picks for this holiday season. One of my favorite things about the entire month of December is the “fun” mail that I receive on a daily basis. Every month of the year, with the exception of December, the only thing exciting that I receive in my mailbox is my Pottery Barn catalog, or as the Hubster refers to it, “porn for women.” But once December 1st arrives, my mailbox is filled to the brim with holiday cards. Each card carefully selected and designed, filled with family photos and highlights from the year. I love to read them and show them off for the entire month by clipping them to ribbon that I run over the front of my kitchen cabinets. In no time my kitchen is filled with the faces of loved ones.
With as much as I love to read and receive holiday cards, creating and sending our family’s card is something I look forward to each year. I spend hours mulling over all of my design options. Once I have my favorites selected, I then compare the prices to determine what cards are truly in our budget. We send close to 150 cards each year and with that the price can add up fast. This year I was SUPER excited to find Pikcal.com.
Pikcal.com is a brand new website where you can create custom holiday cards. The holiday cards are 5×7 and are printed on 100 lb high quality matte stationery stock paper and come with matching envelopes at no additional cost. Each card can be customized with your own photos and verbiage and all orders include FREE SHIPPING! The website was super easy to use with each step guiding me to the next. I uploaded a variety of photos since I didn’t know which ones I wanted to use and it was easy to swap out the photos until I found the perfect combination.
I fell in love with their chalkboard art designs and I’m looking forward to sitting at the table this weekend sipping a hot cup of peppermint coffee with a large dollop of whipped cream while I stuff each envelope with our Christmas cards. My little men love to help by adding the stamps. So if you happen to be on our Christmas Card list and you receive one with a crooked stamp, your card received a little extra love this holiday season.
